"God never envisioned a world where his image bearers would do life in low gear or be encouraged to hold back, especially when suffering is rampant, people are lost, and there is so much kingdom work to do. He wants his daughters to thrive, mature, gain wisdom hone their gifts, and contribute to his vast purposes in our world ... God created his daughters to be kingdom builders - to pay attention to what is happening around us, to take action and contribute." I found this written on Heidi Lindblom's Instagram post a while ago. It inspired me to write about the courageous ladies I am with here in Côte d'Ivoire. I had the privilege to participate in our national ladies congress (AFEBECI - Association de Femmes des Eglises Baptistes Evangelique de Côte d'Ivoire). The national board members met with their 10+ district leaders in Bouaké for reports, vision building and organising a national ladies' camp for next year. The discipleship training and formation of ladies in our churches and beyond is on their hearts and agenda. Past conferences with 300 up to 500+ ladies were held in schools during the vacations. The facilities were not optimal and the desire grew to build their own conference center in Bouaké. It was amazing for me to see how the leadership of ladies got creative on getting funds coming in for this project. It's progressing little by little as contributions from women groups in local churches and districts is coming in. But they still have a long way to go. Will you please pray with us that in God's good timing this project will finish and many women will be able to learn and to be encouraged to trust and serve our Saviour Jesus Christ and to help advance his Kingdom here in West Africa and beyond.
